#RSD: A Saucerful of Secrets (mono) / Pink Floyd
ようやくRSDにレコ屋開店時から参加。なんだかんだで４年ぶり。そのタイミングだとやはり狙いのアイテムを入手しやすいね。
1stモノ盤は（リマスターの）ステレオ盤（LP）と違い、低周波数帯のフィルタリングなし。なのでフルスペクトラムとまで言えるかどうかはわからないが、よりナチュラルな音像。このアルバムを改めて落ち着いてappreciateできる音とでも言おうか、ミックスうんぬん以前にこれだけでも“買ってよかった”と言える一品だった。
そして今回の2ndモノ盤。マスタリングは引き続きBG。一聴した限りでは1st同様の方向性。Side Twoのタイトルトラック、最後のヴォーカル部分の盛り上がりと感動が、ライヴ・アット・ポンペイでのテイクを思い出させる。ステレオ盤CD（手元にあるのは01年紙ジャケ盤）では感じられない表現力がこのモノ盤にある。
ミックス面での相違は、いつもの掲示板にある通り。引用する。
1. Let There Be More Light: very similar. Mono ends a few seconds earlier, so stereo is better, mostly in the guitar solo part, which is full of instruments and sound effects.
2. Remember a Day: the stereo version is almost mono, except for the vocals. No real differences between the real mono mix and a fold down.
3. Set The Controls...: Mono begins with a fade in, and ends with a later fade out. Some overdubs missing. Stereo wins
4. Corporal Clegg: well, the mono mix sounds like an unfinished demo. It has no organ, piano nor lead guitar. I don't like the stereo mix, but is the only real mix of the complete song.
5. A Saucerful of Secrets: stereo is better in every possible way.
6. See Saw: mono has a nice crisp sound, but the stereo mix is not bad. A slight differnt way to listen to this little gem.
7. Jugband Blues: mono misses the backing vocals and the "la la la..." one. I think this omissions give the song a darker atmosphere, which works very well. The brass part is better IMHO because the lack of heavy panning.

今回は1stと違い装飾的なアウタージャケットがなかったためか、比較的求めやすい価格帯だったのもありがたし。
さて、ここからのフロイド関係としては、例のアニマルズSACDに期待。WatersのATD 45rpm Vinylは個人的にはtoo much感があるのでまあいいかな。
